Show

I have a spot in the Etsy mixed media showcase today. I thought I would give it a try. I was reading about how there are thousands of new shops opening daily and that might indicate why my items have 4 views. :(

This piece below is a photo I took in 1994 maybe and it's been altered with pens and paint and alcohol inks. The canvas is 11 by 14 and I used the same on the canvas plus some molding paste and more texture. I like how it turned out.

Heart

I finished three things this weekend! Well actually it was this morning that I finished them. I ended up with a partial migraine later in the day and my tummy hurts too. I wanted to have coffee this morning and I don't think I should have because it's not good for your stomach. :(

The baby wipes came in handy that I had saved from me and Melody's project at some point. I used more color on them and picked the best one as a background for this heart. The heart I made with sculpey and poked with sewing pins. I don't like traditional valentine stuff and this isn't really a valentine exactly so I like it. There are a couple of small boxes with weird trinkets in them I guess and I need to start using the stuff so I clipped off the top of the angel milagro I had antiqued and put her on there. The red was the adirondack inks or ranger inks in cranberry I think. I got several of these because I think I just liked the sound of their names like lettuce, cranberry, latte, eggplant, etc. They don't work well on paper or canvas or with other paint but they work well on photos and plastic and polymer clay I guess.

My heart of an angel is available in my Etsy shop. I will have to post the others later after the littlest one is asleep.

New favorite book

I have a new favorite book. It's called Red Sings from Treetops and is illustrated by my new favorite artist Pamela Zagarenski. I got the book from the library and then started compiling information on her this morning! I think her work is amazing.

Citra Solv part 2

The papers I altered with Citra Solv are the only ones I am going to do. The smell of the orange was too much for me! I like orange but the scent was around for a week it seemed. I like how some of the papers turned out. Well they aren't really papers but magazine pages really with the ink removed. The thing I liked about this was that you had no control over the final outcome. To me that meant I couldn't screw it up. :) On top of some of the pages I used alcohol inks and liked how it made the colors more vibrant. I had a packing tape transfer that I thought looked cool on top of the page but it's not secured on there yet. I am not sure what I am going to do with all these for now but I will come up with something soon.

What's around

I painted over the bird background that I had done below. The bird was added in Photoshop. The painting I didn't like so I painted over it. I like that there was quite a bit of texture in it so I can still see bumps and the circle stamps I used. It's almost done but looked like this before I started on it.I didn't use anything that was dumped on top of it. I have been experimenting with some old black and white photos and using the alcohol inks on them. I will share more of that later. The other two paintings are just sitting there. I don't want to look at them. I have to finish the big one because it is taking up too much space. I am doing an infant of Prague variation. At least I think that's what I am doing. :)

We have a maple tree on the patio and I let Melody color it with chalk. Then I was supposed to color it too. I think the white chalk is actually good for trees to deter bugs but maybe I am wrong. I don't think non toxic crayola chalk will hurt the tree.
